Hassan Ibrahim Arrested For Allegedly Killing His 90-yr old Father

The Kwara State Police Command has in clear terms confirmed the arrest of one Hassan Ibrahim who was accused of killing his 90-year-old father Sabi, a retired army corporal, made away with the ATM card belonging to the deceased and was withdrawing funds from the account on different occasions.

It was gathered that Hassan allegedly buried the remains of his father after successfully carrying out the crime and immediately fled to Kaduna State in search of a safe heaven. It was discovered that while Hassan was in Kaduna State, he made several withdrawals from the account belonging to the deceased, using the ATM card which he had earlier stolen from him before exiting Kwara State.

The suspect was paraded at the police headquarters in Ilorin Kwara State on Thursday, 8 August, 2022. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi stated that the arrest of Hassan was birthed following a report made to the command by one Aishat who happens to be Hassan’s sister as well as daughter to the deceased.

According to him as quoted, “on the 5th of August, 2022, one lady by the name Aishat Ibrahim reported to the Police Command that her father, Mr Ibrahim Sabi, a 90 year old retired corporal was missing. Based on the information reaching the police, the circumstances surrounding his disappearance gave rise to suspicions especially in certain directions, a situation that stimulated curiousity and determination of the police to investigate to the root of the matter.”

He further stated that “the investigation had a major pointer to Hassan Ibrahim, a biological son of the missing old man, thus necessitating his search and subsequent arrest. In course of further investigations and interrogations that followed the arrest, the suspect did confess to haven administered paracetamol injection mixed with some other substances on his deceased father after which he became weak and sleepy.”

“He confessed to have done this after returning from the bank with his father who went for the renewal of his ATM card. He claimed he took his father afterwards on a motorcycle he had earlier borrowed and conveyed his father to an isolated building yet to be completed and there, he strangled the weak and sleepy old man to death.”

“In an attempt to conceal his crime, Hassan confessed to have dug a shallow grave where he buried the corps haven collected his Wema Bank ATM card and absconded to Kaduna State believing he could escape the weight of the law. It was on reaching Kaduna State he began withdrawing funds from his late father’s account. It was discovered that he withdrew funds of about N59,000.

In fact, Hassan further stated that the main objective he had was to take total control of his father’s ATM card considering the fact that he already knew the pin and the only feasible means to achieving that criminal objective was to kill him. He also confessed to have sold the borrowed motorcycle before absconding to Kaduna State where he was eventually arrested.

Okasanmi stated that both the ATM card and the sold motorcycle had been retrieved by the police and that Hassan would soon be charged to court.
